Peak Season Surcharge/General Rate Increase & Congestion Surcharge

Dear Customers,

Stockwell International has received notice and wishes to advise customers that in light of the continued Industrial Action and continual heavy congestion, several shipping lines have been impacted and have implemented the following General Rate Increase/Peak Season Surcharge/Congestion Surcharge:

Amount: USD $100/TEU and USD $200/FEU

16th November
North Europe, Mediterranean and Black Sea to Oceania 
Amount: USD $200/TEU and US$400/FEU

China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to Australia and New Zealand   
Amount: USD $1000/TEU and USD $2000/FEU

16th December
USA and Canada to Australia and New Zealand
Amount: USD $200/TEU and US$400/FEU for both dry and refrigerated cargo

Space on the Asia to New Zealand trade sectors is continuing to tighten considerably due to the ongoing congestion at the Ports of Auckland. The current waiting time for vessels to obtain a berthing window at the Auckland container terminal is up to 17 days and this is expected to increase over the coming weeks.

The following is a summary of the increases published by the shipping lines at the time of sending, effective 1st December 2020.

Congestion Updates 

Auckland

  • Vessel berthing delays in Auckland are between 8-14 days
  • Berth waiting times and operational delays have resulted in shipping lines applying congestion surcharges 
  • There is now a container shortage in Auckland impacting exporters 
  • International shipping lines have suspended Coastal shipping options from Auckland to the South Island. Causing rail and road options to become heavily congested 

Auckland to Christchurch

Stockwell International has been advised that sea freight from Auckland to Christchurch has been suspended due to the current shipping issues affecting New Zealand ports and services which is unlikely to go back to normal until early next year.

Rail is only accepting bookings for services four weeks ahead. The next option is not till 23rd November and weekly thereafter subject to space. All waitlist bookings are also now cancelled.

  • the increased cargo has resulted in rail congestion of approximately 2 weeks delay
  • Kiwirail has added 6 more trains per week from December to support volumes

Stockwells has also been advised that because rail costs are significantly higher than coastal sea freight there will be a levy initiated; Christchurch Congestion Surcharge of $40 per revenue ton when cargo moves via rail to the South Island.

Tauranga

Stockwell International has been advised estimated turnaround times as are:

  • 10-12 days from date of discharge for general cargo.
  • 3-5 days from date of discharge for containers that were priority managed by you through Shuttle Select.

Bunker Recovery Charge January 2021

Dear Customers,

Stockwell International has received notice from shipping lines that a review has taken place and effective from 1st January 2021 the below BRC levels will apply for cargo ex Australia to the following regions;New Zealand to Australia  
DRY USD $122/TEU          
REEFER USD $182/TEU

Oceania to North Europe, United Kingdom, Ireland
20โ€™: DRY $324 REEFER $486
40โ€™: DRY $648 REEFER $972

Container Park Closed

Dear Customers,

Stockwell International has been advised that the Woolston Container Park in Lyttelton is currently experiencing congestion problems and have reported they are at capacity and are unable to accept containers.

Lyttelton Port – Rate Increases

Dear Customers,

Lyttelton Port Company has announced a Port Infrastructure Levy for all containers stevedored through LPC, as well as an increase to the VBS Fee Effective 1st January 2021 Vanguard Logistics will apply an increase of

  • NZD 3.00 w/m on the Import LCL PSC and
  • NZD 3.00 w/m on the Export LCL OTHC

Port Dues Surcharge

Dear Customers,

Stockwell International has been advised from shipping lines and wishes to advise that in line with adjustments by statutory authorities a new Port Dues Surcharge will be applicable to all import and export cargoes to & from Lyttleton, New Zealand

Port Dues Surcharge will be applicable for cargoes arriving into and sailing from Lyttleton as of the 1st January 2021 at the following quantums:
 

  • 20โ€™       NZD 37 (GP & Reefer)
  • 40โ€™       NZD 74 (GP & Reefer)

Heavy Booking out of Central China

Dear Customers,

Please take into account that China is planning 2 weeks of quarantine/COVID restrictions prior to Chinese New Year that will suspend Hong Kong and South China feeder services between 20 January 2021 โ€“ 22 February 2021. 

This will no doubt cause delays, we ask for your patience as we try to minimise delays as much as possible.

Stockwells has been advised that Hong Kong, Huangpu, Guangzhou, Sanshui, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Dongguan, Shangtou will not provide feeder service during that time.

Chinese New Year

Dear Customers,

With the hurdles we have all faced in the year of 2020, the team at Stockwell International thought it best to remind customers of Chinese New Year early! 

With space filling up and congestion not easing, we would like to recommend that customers get in ASAP with new bookings. 

Chinese New Year will suspend Hong Kong and South China  services between 20 January 2021 โ€“ 22 February 2021 (this includes 2 weeks of quarantine).

Dear Customers,

Dangerous Goods Cargo ex India & Indonesia Temporarily Suspended 

Dear Customers,

Please be advised that Stockwell International has received notice from our agents in India & Indonesia have advised that currently carriers in these origin have advised that they are not accepting hazardous cargo at this point in time.

We have not received confirmation on how long this will be in place, so we have no choice but to temporarily suspend our acceptance of Dangerous Goods from these origins.

Winter Surcharge 2020-2021

Dear Customers,

Stockwell International has received notice from shipping lines that effective from 1st December 2020 a Winter Surcharge Fee will be applied to import cargo into St Petersburg and Uust Luga due to increases in operational costs during the winter season.

  • USD 100/200 for 20’/40′ for both dry and reefer
